Nudity is aesthetic if one has an eye for it. Curiosity towards the exploration of nudity has regularly inspired many great acts that this world has ever seen. Latest furore in Paris over installation of Anish Kapoor’s sculpture “Queen’s Vagina” (placed in the grounds of the Palace of Versailles) has exposed the conservative undertones of the otherwise much touted Modernist approach of the West. Ironically, the controversy has sparked many reactions in the country which was the bandwagon of Renaissance; and in contemporary times is touted as the Fashion capital of the world or an Artist’s Paradise.
Nudity has always been subject to vandalism and criticism by the moralists. But, what can be more gratifying than the vision of the creation of the Nature, whatsoever it may be, in its truest form sans any embellishments. Nudity, in fact is such a great equaliser! Nudity takes us closer to nature in its pristine form. In fact, nudity imparts a tinge of truth to every aspect of life. Nudity in our emotions makes their impact more strong as they are devoid of worldly machinations. It makes us aware of our existence in the starkest possible way, making us fall in love with ourselves again and again in myriad ways. However, the demarcation line between nudity and obscenity, which is unbelievably thin and ambiguous must always be respected. In order to enjoy life to the fullest, search for your ‘nude-self’, and keep trying until you succeed!!
