Novelty infuses enthusiasm in a nondescript life. An urge to do something new accompanies occurrence of a new phenomenon.
Recently, we witnessed the advent of a new year and a new decade. The past decade started with a lot of buzz – the Y2K syndrome, a new century, a new millennium, a harbinger of the giant leap of humankind. It has not been long, since the euphoria about the new millennium , the Y2K effect inter alia grasped the whole world. The noughties witnessed plethora of significant events. Events that retained an eternal imprint in the pages of history. Rise of terrorism in its high-tech avatar, rise in living standard and dissemination of cosmopolitan culture, intrusion of internet in the daily routine of people causing unbelievable magnitude of information exchange, unprecedented rise of media having 24 x 7 presence, detrimental climate change, decline in value system etc. – in short a mixed bag of good and bad happenings. Good ones provided us the moments of pride and happiness and bad ones an opportunity for introspection.
The new decade in this background emerges as an important value on the time scale in many aspects. 2015 – the year fixed for achieving the MILLENNIUM DEVELOPMENT GOALS – is well nigh. Scourge of poverty is still unrelenting in its role of deadliest bane for the humanity. Despite so many years of civilisation and numerous resolutions passed and enormous number of bodies formed, basic problems plaguing the humankind stand firm and unchanged.
Human being as a dynamic entity needs to redefine its existence and role in the changing milieu. Life is not so simple as it used to be. It is in this regard that evolution of a new perspective and inoculation of novelty in the basic ingredients of life is an indispensable need. A need which cannot be obviated using any mechanical equipment. Creation of an environment which acts as blooming ground for innovation and formulation of new ideas is required. Stung by consumerism and unruly desire to develop on any cost, we have numbed our basic humanistic tendencies. Happiness has become an obscure intangible entity hard to discover. Amidst the galore of fake existences, reality is being smothered to its last breath. Pure sentiments have been metamorphosised into formalities and status symbol.
Novelty appears as the only saviour from this blitzkrieg of mundane desires followed by actions to fulfil them. New ideas and new dimensions of perception can surely usher the era of change. An outlook stimulated by an altogether new perspective can only change the otherwise hopeless situation. A major factor of human survival is optimism which has been the hallmark of human race. Its time to show unprecedented optimism sans which the system may collapse or worsen. Unification of efforts rather than fragmented application of thought process is must. Development without human progress is nothing but a sham. It is necessary that the sun of human spirit should shine in its most brilliant fervour to penetrate scandalous cloud of not-so-human existence. The erstwhile motive to succeed should transform into humane accomplishment of tasks without damaging the intrinsic human traits.
Happiness, equality, friendliness must rule the roost in the new perspective thereby creating a vantage point from where the human civilisation can approach the real progress. Monotonous rat-race should be replaced by the valour of humanity to move towards a real progressive system ensuring goodness “of, by and for” the people.
HAPPY NEW YEAR
LETS MAKE OUR EXISTENCE WORTH RECKONING!!
