Sachin Tendulkar

A cliché but true. It perfectly suits the person who apart from being the paragon of cricket is a role model for millions. I feel proud to be born in the nation where personalities like Sachin are born. Recently, while listening to a panel discussion on the issue of conferring Bharat Ratna to the little maestro, one panelist argued that Sachin is the master of his own art and not a significant contributor to cause of nation. What a hollow and constricted point of view!! Is it necessary that a politician or statesman (extinct specie in present scenario) is entitled to the highest civilian award? No, not at all! I believe that any person following in this country will never contend that Sachin is the person to provide us numerous moments of jubilations. Moments to rejoice! Moments to feel the Indianness, which is otherwise mostly dormant. Confer or do not confer, this man is above any such award. It is really difficult to connect with millions of people through your work. Master Blaster is phenomenally adept at it!!

Sheer epitome of modesty, he shines brightly among various adversities that are marring the nation as well as the ‘common man’. It is a matter of grace and enormous pride that I have seen Sachin play. And I am sure there are many who will concur with me. This man has uncanny ability of inspiring the people. The whole lot of cricketers playing today started playing cricket in order to emulate – a feat impossible to achieve. Present era of materialism provides a lot of opportunity to gain appraisals. But the real praise is one that is received from the people belonging to your bailiwick. And Sachin has such comments in bounty. Again sign of greatness! The balance he has been able to strike between his on and off field life is commendable.

We wish that he keeps on showering his skills in the field of cricket. Being a paradigm already, there is more which he can give in many ways to the nation. Humility along with ingenuity is a rare but deadly combination. It is imbibed in Sachin and his persona is perfection of the same. Calmness and composure are his forte indeed. But most importantly he has ability to turn the ‘stones into the milestones’ by proving himself right in contradiction to the critics. Wish you many happy returns of the day SACHIN!!!
